Versace versus. London

Calling all London girls....don't forget that the Versace at H&M unveiling starts today!

http://www.hm.com/gb/versace#home

My best friend went down to the H&M flagship store to brave the queues, and oh my was it worth it! She managed to nab me some fabulous leggings, and bought herself a red dress somewhat resembling a mini version 'that' Liz Hurley safety pin dress, along with some other stylish bits and pieces. I cannot wait to show it all off to everyone online!

When you wish upon a...bone...

The wishbone necklace.
I love this dainty piece of jewellery so much, I think it would suit any girl and it's the perfect signature pendant  to feel lucky in everyday. I became the proud owner of one on my 18th birthday. But disaster has struck my London camp. I cannot find my necklace anywhere! Granted, this may have in fact happened months ago, but it is only now that I have succumbed to tidying the place up and alas, I am now certain that the necklace is no more. Nada. Gone. During the desperate search for said necklace, I have found myself apologising to it for all the the parties I didn't take it to and promising to be a better, more caring owner in the future-if only it would just come back to me. But even this slightly manic behaviour has led to no avail.
And it seems just to torture me, the celebrities seem to be back rockin' out their own versions of my necklace.

Mischa Barton started the trend way back when the O.C was still gracing out television screens.

Jennifer Aniston has sported the golden beauty in three of her films! Jen's wearing the Jennifer Meyer version of the necklace for $1,200 but actually I think the Dogeared version (pictured above) for the bargain basement price of £50 is just as beautiful!

look of the day K3

having launched a blog, you often caught yourself thinking whether you wear anything blogworthy... Is it good enough? Is it not a banality? Should you try to look good  simply to be ableto post something?

a lot of looks just pass by because we think they are way too everyday... at the same time, we are real girls, not in fashion, so not Anna Della Russo (even if we wished we were) and we thought we wanted to share our real selves, not what we happen to be from time to time... so perhaps you will not see us suddenly going Olsen sisters or channeling inner Prada via vigorous search of hight street shelves (although Danii for sure to search Prada for Prada as well!!!) ...

as all of us, i am a lawyer. i happen to work in a big international law firm, working primarily for big corporates. this is the men's world (and thank God for that - i so prefer men generally to women generally), but i decided that playing on men's field should not mean that i will hide my girly side (in fact, sometimes i heavily rely on it!).
so i try to look professional at work (even if sometimes being on the borderline between a lawyer and a party girl), but yet attractive.

whenever i happen to have a face to face meeting, i carefully chose what i am going to wear, as my outfit and looks are a shield - i calm myself with "okay, even if i don't know smth at least i look good" (particularly if there are girls at a meeting).

this is a random pic i found on my old i-phone, very dear to me solely because this is exactly how i was dressed when i meet Mr. Big (i hope you are old enough to have watched Sex and the City). Unfortunately, this is a fashion/ life styles blog only and I cannot go on and burden you with details of how i turned my head, meet his eyes and was totally smitten...You know, when you just know you have to get that very special man...very strange for me as normally I develop fondness of guys gradually and am never struck by anyone at the first sight.

funnily enough, when I have bumpted into Mr. Big recently, he remembered every piece of my outfit and hairdo, praising the boots particularly.

i am wearing Massimo Dutti trousers bought last year (I bet you guessed I was totally in love with the sand Chloe trousers of 2010 but could not really afford them so had to find consolation in smth similar). The trousers are quite forgiving and, unusually for me, high-waisted. High waist trousers are so not on top of my list but these ones redeemed for all the previous failed relationships.

i am also wearing a Van Lack shirt, with a courduroy trim and partially pleated front. I am normally opting for TM Lewin shirts for work but occasionally I prefer smth with a twist (and when I say twist I do not mean those cheap "designer bits" you often see in TM Lewin - hey guys, you are good at plain shirts so keep doing this!!!).

the boots are my BCBG Max Azria (as you already know). i dont really like brown and green colors and these have all of them, so this purchase was yet another attempt to broaden fashion horizons and be innovative. the booots have very stable heels, even if a bit too high (about 10 cm for everyday boots is not little if you ask me), but this had proved to be very fortunate - Mr. Big is about 190-195 cm tall!!!

Better to have loved and lost....

Than never to have loved at all.

Erm NO!

Whoever said that phrase, clearly never experienced the roller coaster feeling of happiness upon falling in love with the perfect pair of pumps and then the utter feeling of despair when you realise that your size isn't available.

I definitely wish I had never laid eyes on these Vectra studded Topshop slipper shoes. Then I wouldn't know what a wonderful staple item I was missing out on. Now whoever said ignorance is bliss, now HE was a wiseman.

As I was patiently waiting for the shop assistant to bring over my size 5s, I had already mentally added them to my wardrobe. How nicely they'd go with my Levi's jeans or how they'd be the perfect addition to a white silk shirt/denim combo. When the shop assistant informed me of the lack of my size, I can't lie- I was definitely disappointed. But that does not even nearly compare to the feeling I experienced next when the girl proceeded to inform me (unprompted-may I add) that actually they'd pretty much sold out of this shoe nationwide and online. Bam. The basic female instinct kicked in of wanting what you can't have....and oh my.....did I now want those shoes. I shamefully even considered purchasing the size 3s that were on display.  I mean I knew I couldn't wear them, but I figured I could maybe keep them for decorative purposes (I really hope I'm not the only one who has thoughts like that go through their head...).

So this is a public outcry to the God of Shoes, i.e. Philip Green, to pretty pretty please make some more of these studded pumps. If not....well readers, I have to apologise, because I'm afraid I will just have to continue to write in cliches such as the ones above till then.

My Girl Crush

I confess...I have the hugest girl crush on actress Gillian Zinser.

She plays the character Ivy in the TV series 90210. I'm not actually a big fan of the show; give me a funny, realistic TV series like 'The Inbetweeners' over the overly glamorous lives of the Beverly Hills crowd any day. But I swallow all my TV viewing snobbery for the sake of this leading lady. I absolutely adore her relaxed bohemian style; both on and off the set.

I love Gill's (that's right, we're on a first name basis now...) staple method of adding casual accessories to her outfits to dress them down and add that bit of oh-so-chic flair to them. The leather jacket and the trillby completely make the outfits.

Ooo just look at the close up of all the bright clashing jewellery. Uber street cool.

This outfit is a particular favorite of mine....and the best part is, it can be totally emulated with high street goodies! The similar look can be pieced together with a casual black unitard, some trendy vintage jewellery and these beauties...

Nylon Spandex Micro-Mesh Jumper Pant; American Apparel

Now to only adjust this summer beach wear style, to the cold November night of London....
Okay, I know she's not technically really wearing much in these last pictures, but I couldn't resist....just look at that face!

It is good to know though that even the epitome of cool gets it wrong sometimes. This outfit Miss Zinser wore in the summer is just plain bizarre. But hats off to you for trying G!

Look of the day J2

Back to School
This outfit totally makes me feel like I'm going back to school.
It's so simple: just a black Love dress and heeled brogues....but I absolutely love it for this time of year. It's the perfect day to night oufit, and now that it's getting dark at around 5pm, the day to night outfits are becoming somewhat of an essential for me.

Gossip Girl; image courtesy of Grazia.co.uk

This is my little 'Blair Waldorf' blazer. I feel very Gossip Girl in it...all I need is a bow headband and I reckon I could easily blend in as a Season 2 extra.

I found this leather clutch bag all dusty in my attic about a month ago and since then I can't remember how I ever lived without it. And the best part is that the size is so deceiving....it basically fits my whole make up bag inside!

Cheap thrills....

Ever since Mary-Kate Olsen donned the Balenciaga Harness boots as her number one fashion necessity back in 2006, us fashionista's haven't been able to get enough of them (or get hold of them...).

I find myself day dreaming of outfit combo's involving these little booties and then get firmly knocked back down to earth when I remember that I do not own them. And let's face it, I probably never will.
